1) ROLE: EDUCATOR


WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

In this role, you will be playing a crucial role by engaging with the children through content delivery (teaching), and modeling their thought process on the lines of design thinking. You will primarily be mentoring the children in the conceptual 'thinking' process of design" and simultaneously be involved in the research, development and refinement of the curriculum. The role will require you to inspire and excite the kids to help bring their ideas come to life. More importantly, we want both you and the kids to have fun!


Key Responsibilities

  • Engage kids of 5th - 9th grade in the design thinking process through various activities and challenges.
  • Manage and facilitate design thinking in a classroom of 20 children.
  • Assist with curriculum development based on feedback from children and patterns identified.
  • Take two sessions each day at our maker-space (one hour each).
  • Aid children in brainstorming, developing and evaluating their ideas.
  • Identify trends and patterns in data and using it to refine the curriculum.


WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

  • A background in design and an excellent understanding of the design thinking process. (background in design may be formal or informal).
  • Basic know how of 2d, 3d software and digital fabrication ( we can take you through the rest).
  • Share our vision of revolutionising education for the better!
  • Ability to brainstorm, control and hold a class of 20 fun, creative and excited children (not to be confused with 'disciplining' them).
  • Prior teaching experience is a big plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication and presentation skills.
  • Time management skills to complete activities as scheduled.
  • An innovative mindset (you have come up with creative solutions to problems yourself before.


2. ROLE: DESIGNER / MAKER


WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

In this role, you will be the king/queen of the Makerspace. The lab will only function in your presence. You will be playing a crucial role by engaging with the children and enabling them to execute and transform their ideas into reality. You will primarily be mentoring the children in the practical 'making' process of design and simultaneously be involved in bringing operational efficiency to our work flow. You will be the mentor children look to when they get stuck on executing a project or an idea they are working on.


Key Responsibilities

  • Take two sessions each day at our maker-space (one hour each) along with the educator.
  • Mentor and guide children with their ideas and projects in terms of practicality and execution.
  • Ensuring any fabrication that is to be done after a session with respect to their projects is completed and arrives by the next session (digital fabrication on a large scale would be done in our support lab).
  • Younger kids are not permitted to use power tools. In the case where their project requires the use of them, it would be through you.
  • Keeping track of inventory in the makerspace. Materials will be updated and delivered to the lab at the start of every fortnight based on your instructions.
  • One session of Teacher training per week in schools (software and digital fabrication).
  • Photographic documentation of the activities that happening in the lab.


WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

  • Expert in 2D, 3D software, digital fabrication and electronics.
  • Share our vision of revolutionising education for the better!
  • Ability to control and hold a class of 20 fun, creative and excited children.
  • Prior teaching experience is a plus.
  • Ability to brainstorm ideas with kids.
  • Time management skills, professional and able to work independently - You will need to help 20 children help make their ideas come to life in each class.
  • A true maker (you should have made multiple things earlier).


3. ROLE: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT / LANUCH MANAGER


WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

In this role, you will be closing deals with organizations to launch our program. We're looking to expand and take our ideas of education to every part of the country. We need someone who believes in the design thinking approach to education to help us do this. Someone with the creativity and drive to come up with stunning business plans and execute them.


Key Responsibilities

  • Follow up on leads and engage in cold outreach to potential business partners.
  • Develop a killer sales pitch, using a combination of charisma and business case presentation to generate buy-in from business partners.
  • Diligently follow-up with business partners to ensure they are set up for success.
  • Launch the Better By Design program at schools, independent makerspaces and apartments.
  • Initiate creative local marketing strategies and user growth campaigns.
  • Help scale our program through developing and sharing best practices.
